Construction workers shot, stabbed

BACOLOD City — Two construction workers in this city had died in separate incidents. One was shot while the other was stabbed.

Johnny Jaoud, 30, of Purok San Roque, Barangay Tangub was shot on the chest in Gardenville Subdivision on Sept. 21.

He was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Police Station 8 identified the suspect as Zydechias Gabotero, 53, of Gardenville Subdivision, Barangay Tangub.

Police said the shooting happened when Jaoud visited Gabotero’s daughter, whom he was courting. A heated argument ensued between the two men.

Police later found out that Jaoud was already mauled in Gardenville after visiting Gabotero’s daughter in their house on Sept. 13.

Gabotero was detained in Police Station 8 lockup cell and was subjected to a paraffin test.

On the other hand, Rolly Mangubat, 28, was stabbed at around 2:45 a.m. on Sept. 20 in Celine Homes Subdivision in Barangay Estefania here.

Police identified the suspect as Rodel Gamboa. The stabbing happened when a heated argument ensued between the two while binge drinking.

Gamboa fled after the incident. Police are now hunting him./PN
