CAPIZ – Selected clustered precincts in Cuartero and Roxas City in this province will undergo a random manual audit (RMA) of the May 12, 2025 national and local election results, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has announced.
Atty. Salud Milagros Villanueva, provincial election supervisor, confirmed that six ballot boxes from the two localities have been selected for scrutiny.
For Roxas City, the precincts include Cluster Precinct No. 110 in Barangay Mongpong, No. 65 in Barangay Dayao, and No. 19 in Barangay Bago.
Meanwhile, in Cuartero town, ballot boxes from Cluster Precinct No. 8 in Barangay Agnaga, No. 18 in Barangay Mahabang Sapa, and No. 4 in Barangay Poblacion Ilaya will be audited.
According to Villanueva, the selection was conducted by the Comelec Central Office, which also oversees the audit process.
The purpose of the RMA is to ensure that the vote counts generated by the automated counting machines (ACMs) are accurate when compared to the results of manual counting.
This practice has long been part of Comelec’s measures to uphold the credibility and transparency of automated elections./PN
