D-League: Basilan-St. Clare stays unbeaten

MANILA – BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Clare Saints took control of the match in the fourth period and defeated Technological Institute of the Philippines Engineers, 85-70, in the 2019 PBA D-League at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.


Jhaps Bautista converted three outside hits in the fourth period as part of the Saints’ scintillating 23-5 scoring run that turned a 60-56 lead to an 83-61 spread with over two minutes left on Tuesday.


Bautista finished the match with 13 points, including 3-of-7 shooting from the outside, to go along with three steals and two assists.

The Saints remained unbeaten three games.

Irven Palencia tallied 17 points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists.

Malian center Mohammad Pare churned out a double-double with his 13 points and 12 boards.

“Yun ang nire-remind ko sa veterans ko na sila dapat ang mag-adjust dahil sila ang bago sa team,” said Saints head coach Stevenson Tiu.

Bryan Santos carried the 2-1 Engineers with 23 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

Christian Daguro got 11 points, four assists, three boards, and three steals.
Senegalese slotman Papa Ndiaye was limited to just nine points on 2-of-11 shooting, to go with 12 rebounds in the losing effort./PN
