MANILA – Rachel Anne Daquis returned from almost two-year hiatus as Farm Fresh Foxies scored a 28-26, 17-25, 25-19, 25-17 victory over Galeries Tower Highrisers in the PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

The former Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws star made brief appearances in the first and second set and tallied one point as the Foxies moved up to 4-4 in the standings.

Ilang percent na ba ko? Siguro getting there (100 percent game shape),” the 37-year-old Daquis said in a post-game interview. “Pero mas naniniwala ako sa perfect timing kasi mahaba haba pa ‘yung laro.”

“Nung pinasok naman ako sa court, alam ko na ‘yung gagawin ko eh kahit na nagbakasyon ako, pero ang dami nang nagbago sa volleyball,” she added. “But naniniwala ako dun at naniniwala din ako sa sistema ni coach (Benson Bocboc).”

Trisha Tubu finished with a career-high of 33 points, including 28 attacks, four service aces, and a block, while Negrense Alyssa Bertolano and Jolina dela Cruz added 11 and 10 points, respectively, for the Foxies.

Ang instruction ko going into this game is maglaro lang sila and wala akong pakiala sa numbers na ilalabas nila,” Bocboc said after the game. “Galing sa talo eh so we need to get back those confidence.”

Ysabel Jimenez finished with 15 points, all coming from attacks, to lead the Highrisers, while Andrea Marzan added 10 markers as they dropped to a 1-7 win-loss record.

Meanwhile, Cloanne Mondonedo unloaded 17 excellent sets as ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles (4-4) turned back Chery Tiggo Crossovers (5-4), 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, for back-to-back wins.

“Super proud lang ako sa team, it’s a great win for us today. Lahat ginagawa nila para makuha namin ang panalo,” said Mondonedo, who also recorded three points in the victory.

Guimarasnon Jovelyn Gonzaga led the way for the Thunderbelles with 20 points, Ilongga Glaudine Troncoso added 18 markers, while Thea Gagate, Chinnie Arroyo, and Michelle Gamit had 13, 12, and 10 points, respectively./PN
