ANTIQUE – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office in this province has officially transferred to its new permanent location at the Lower Ground Floor of CityMall, San Jose de Buenavista, which opened on Friday, September 12.
The consular office, which previously operated on an interim basis at Robinsons Place Mall since 2024, now offers a wider and more accessible venue for passport and other consular services.
Gov. Paolo Javier welcomed the relocation, noting its convenience and cost-efficiency for residents.
“This would be a big help to my kababayans and likewise to our neighbors around Panay Island. Practically, those who will avail themselves of consular services such as passports, visas, and other travel documents, not only lessen expenses but also save travel time and hours of waiting,” he said.
Cong. AA Legarda also expressed support, describing the office as a vital step in bringing essential services closer to the people.
“The DFA Consular Office is not just a facility, it is the realization of our vision to bring vital government services closer to our people,” he stressed.
DFA Undersecretary De Vega underscored the long-term value of the establishment, calling it both a service hub and an investment in Antique’s growth.
“For many years, the people of Antique had to travel long distances to access passports and other consular services. Establishing this office means we are not only serving Antiqueños today but also helping foster Antique’s role as a key driver of regional development,” she said.
