KALIBO, Aklan – The Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) here and a private dog owner conducted free services to around 60 dogs from various municipalities of the province.

“This is also part of our anti-rabies program in the province. Last year, we monitored at least four rabies cases for humans and six on dogs,” said Dr. Ronald Lorenzo, rabies control coordinator of the PVO.

Lorenzo and private dog owner Albert Manalo also organized a gift-giving activity for the dogs.

Manalo grabbed the limelight for giving a dog, Nikki, a decent burial. Nikki was a Japanese Spitz breed. She died of a heart attack.

This activity was held in remembrance of Nikki, said Manalo.

The free services given on Tuesday include: free consultations, anti-rabies vaccinations, deworming, free dog food, and tablet medications./PN
