THE celebration of Labor Day today will be extended for the whole month as the Department of Labor and Employment Region 6 (DOLE-6) has set up various activities for the 2014 labor month-long celebration.
The event will kick off in line with job fairs to be held simultaneously in three different venues namely, SM City Iloilo, SM City Bacolod and Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
As of April 28, DOLE-6 confirmed that there are already close to 50,000 available jobs for both local and overseas employment. Out of the total number, 24,925 were counted from the 134 local companies and recruitment agencies that signed up to join the job fair. Moreover, 25,000 vacant jobs are up for grab in Bacolod City as 54 companies comprise of both local and overseas employers have confirmed to participate in the Labor Day job fair.
Pre-registrations were also held on April 26 to 30 for an organized outcome of the job fairs.
According to the data of DOLE-6, there are already a total of 3,000 job seekers who pre-registered coming from Iloilo (1,500) and Bacolod (1,500).
Other activities to be held today include the Launching of Iwas Aksidente Patrol (IWAP), Release of Livelihood Checks, Bloodletting Activity, Libreng Tawag for OFW families, Skills Demo and Livelihood Fair.
Meanwhile, the activities in connection with the 2014 labor month-long celebration in Iloilo include Tree Planting Activity in Tigbauan on May 10; Basic Occupational Safety and Health Training on May 12 to 16; Digital Arts (IT plus) Training for IS Workers starting on May 5; and Fiesta sa Mayo para sa mga Obreros Year 3 on May 28.
The 2014 labor month-long celebration Negros Occidental, on the other hand, will be highlighted with activities such as Construction Safety Training on April 28 to May 2; Visayas-Mindanao SEADOs Training in Bacolod City on May 5 to 9; Tree Planting Activity in Tigbauan, Iloilo on May 10; LMC Regional Convention to be held in Mambukal Hot Spring Resort on May 15-16; Tree Planting Activity in Don Salvador Benedicto on May 16; Introduction to Industrial Hygiene Seminar in Bacolod City on May 20; Workplace Environment Measurement (WEM) Training; and Orientation on the Advisory for the Productivity Based Pay in the Sugar Industry within the month.
Other tentative activities were the Capacity Building Seminar for DOLE Intermediaries; Career Coaching Activities; RCC Family Health and Wellness Day; Career Coaching Activities; and Fun Run.
The DOLE-6 Labor Month Celebration is being chaired by Dir. Ron Lionel Bartolome of Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Region 6 and co-chaired by Francisco âBombitâ Heler Jr. of Public Service Employment Office Iloilo, and Donna Rose Ratilla of Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Iloilo.
