ILOILO City – To recognize the importance of human resource (HR) managers and practitioners in boosting employment growth in Western Visayas, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 6 will hold the first Regional Human Resource Network General Assembly on August 19.

Bearing the theme “Human Resource, the HEART of the Industry,” the said event will be held at Smallville 21 Hotel and is expected to be graced by DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis – Baldoz.

Specifically, the assembly aims to present and approve draft constitution and by-laws crafted by the HR Network, elect and induct the officers and enhance the knowledge of the participants on labor relations and other labor-related issuances through series of learning sessions.

It will be highlighted with the learning session entitled, “Managing the Boss.”

DOLE-6 Regional Director Ponciano Ligutom is vigorously pushing for the formation of HR Network in the region that can come up with effective strategies leading to the enhancement of human resources and improve the region’s employment rate by working hand-in-hand with DOLE and other government agencies as well as non-government organizations.

DOLE also believes that providing HR practitioners and managers the basic knowledge on labor laws will help in solving labor disputes and maintaining peace in the workplace as they also serve as the link of the management to its human resources.

Ligutom said they are currently working with the core group and convenor to coordinate with the various activities towards the formalization and strengthening of the existing organization of HR practitioners in Western Visayas.

He added that the holding of the said assembly will provide more opportunities to the group to work together to benefit the Filipino workforce, especially the young graduates.

The Human Resource Network was recently formed to empower roles and responsibilities of the HR practitioners in the different industries. It also aims to strengthen their partnership with the government agencies and non-government organizations. (With a report from DOLE-6/PN)
