
JANIUAY, Iloilo – Police arrested a 34-year-old tricycle driver for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition in a raid in Barangay Tuburan here around 4:20 a.m. on Monday, December 9.
Joint operatives of the Janiuay Municipal Police Station (MPS) and 603rd Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 recovered from alias “Edu”, a resident of the said place, the following:
* carbine rifle
* three magazines for carbine rifle
* 62 live cartridges for carbine rifle
* four live cartridges for caliber .45 pistol
* homemade 12-gauge shotgun
* two live cartridges for 12-gauge shotgun
* caliber .38 revolver
The suspect was detained at the Janiuay MPS. He will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, director of the Police Regional Office 6, lauded the Iloilo Police Provincial Office for the relentless effort against loose firearms.
“Confiscating these firearms contributes to the prevention of crimes with the use of loose firearms in the province,” he added./PN
