KALIBO, Aklan – Two drug pushers were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Andagao.

The 39-year-old Dahlia Flor Adrias of Sigma, Capiz and her niece Renalyn Dela Cruz – resident of the village – yielded the suspected illegal drugs, a police report showed.

Joint forces of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Aklan and the Kalibo municipal police station Drug Enforcement Unit staged the sting operation around 9:45 a.m. on March 22.

The suspects were nabbed after they sold a big pack of suspected shabu to an undercover cop for P8,000, it added.

When frisked, eight medium sachets of suspected illegal drugs and mobile phones were also recovered from the their possession.

Adrias, however, said that she was selling ginger tea, or locally known as Salabat to fight the coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak.

The suspects have been placed under surveillance by the drug officers prior to the buy-bust operation.

Now detained, Adrias and Dela Cruz are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.(With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
