Drug suspect shot after trying to dodge arrest

BACOLOD City – He tried to evade arrest that was why he was shot.

The 30-year-old drug suspect Radjie Prado of Barangay 4, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental sustained gunshot wounds on the buttocks and left forearm, a police report showed.

He was rushed to the Hinigaran Emergency Medical Clinic but later transferred to a hospital in Bacolod City for further treatment.

He was considered arrested.

Prado was the target of a drug buy-bust operation that police officers and personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency staged on Monday in Barangay Nanunga, Hinigaran.

The authorities tried to catch Prado after he sold suspected shabu to an undercover officer for P500.

Prado managed to escape. He was, however, cornered around 5:45 p.m. on the same day in Barangay 2, Hinigaran.

Prado fired at the arresting officers, prompting the latter to fire back.

Recovered from Prado’s possession were four sachets of suspects shabu including the buy-bust item, a .38-caliber firearm without serial number, four live bullets, and two empty shells.

The suspected illegal drugs confiscated from Prado were estimated to be worth P36,000.

Police were guarding Prado at the hospital. He will be facing appropriate charges./PN
