Drunk cop nabbed for alarm and scandal

ILOILO City – A police officer was arrested for creating trouble in Zone 1, Barangay Poblacion, Estancia, Iloilo on Tuesday, January 28.

Patrolman Derick Salarzon Zamora, a native of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur and a member of Regional Maritime Unit 6 (RMU-6), was apprehended by his fellow policemen around 8:30 p.m. for scandalous acts while having a drinking spree inside a restobar.

According to reports, RMU-6 officers Patrolman John Lourenz Garcia Corvera and Patrolman Gil Siegfried Fabayos Fabella Jr. went to the restobar to convince their superior to leave and avoid trouble.

However, Zamora punched the two policemen, thus he was arrested.

The suspect was detained at Estancia police station, facing charges for alarm and scandal and physical injuries.

Major Janvier Gilza, chief of Iloilo Maritime Police Station, said that as of this writing, investigation was going for filing of administrative case against the suspect.

“Most likely he will be facing grave misconduct because he was having a drinking spree in a public place and punched his fellow officers,” Gilza said.

He added that he will not tolerate that kind of attitude of his men that could ruin their unit.

“This serves as a lesson to other police officers. They would suffer the same fate if they violate laws,” Gilza said./PN
