DTI-Iloilo to highlight SMED Week with MSME Fair

ILOILO City –To highlight the celebration of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development (SMED) Week from July 28 to August 3, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Iloilo will be holding the MSME Fair.

Bearing the theme “Strengthening Competitiveness and Sustainability of the MSMEs,” the trade fair will be held at SM City Iloilo Event Center and is expected to be joined by 30 participants.

According to DTI-Iloilo Trade and Industry Development Specialist Yolanda Gallenero, the said activity is held annually by the DTI to showcase the products of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in line with their thrust in market promotions.

Among the products to be showcased in the trade fair are processed food, gifts, decors, housewares, furniture, herbal, organic and hand-woven products.

Aside from putting all MSMEs’ products in one venue, the trade fair also aims to establish new and stronger market tie-ups in the business circle.

The weeklong MSME Fair is expected to gross P1.5 million.

For this year, the SMED Week will also be highlighted with an SME Star Program.

The said activity will recognize outstanding MSMEs who preserve to improve their growth in the global market.

The awardees will compete in three categories which correspond to the stages in enterprise growth.

The nominees of the awards are MSMEs engaged in manufacturing, agri-business and services.

Government agencies, private organizations, business groups and non-governmental organizations can nominate the awardees, while the Iloilo Provincial Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council will accept and screen the nominees./PN
