MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has designated Catalino Cuy as new chairperson of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB).
Yesterday, Malacañang released Cuy’s appointment papers which were signed on Jan. 4.
The former officer-in-charge of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) replaced retired Armed Forces chief Dionisio Santiago who quit his post in November last year.
Cuy was also appointed a permanent member of DDB for a term expiring on July 4, 2018.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Executive Secretary also announced the designation of Undersecretary Eduardo Año as officer-in-charge of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
“Upon the instruction of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and to ensure the continuous and effective delivery of public service, please be informed that you are hereby designated as Officer-in-Charge of the Department of Interior and Local Government effective immediately,” a memorandum signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea read.
In May last year, Duterte named Año, a retired Armed Forces chief of staff, as the next DILG secretary.
The Chief Executive, however, said the official would assume the top post when the one-year ban on appointment of retiring military officials to government posts expires./PN
