ILOILO City – Twenty-eight drug pushing suspects were arrested for the past eight months in Dumangas, Iloilo.

Sixteen of the suspects were caught just this July and August, said Senior Inspector Charlie Sustento, Dumangas police chief.

“We congratulate the Dumangas police station and the municipal government,” said Senior Superintendent Cornelio Salinas, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office.

The most recent arrest was staged in Barangay Sto. Rosario. Seized from suspect Noel Vargas were three sachets of shabu, five bricks of dried marijuana leaves and an unlicensed .22, said Sustento.

Mayor Rolando Distura vowed to continue supporting the police’s drive against illegal drugs. He had allotted P100,000 for the campaign.

From the budget will be taken the reward to whoever could give information leading to the arrest of drug suspects – P10,000 for a successful tip.

Last month, 63-year-old barangay councilman Rolando Domejes of Pulao, Dumangas was arrested in a buy-bust operation.

The police recovered three sachets of shabu and a .45 pistol./PN
