MANILA – National Capital Region Police Office chief Oscar Albayalde will soon be the Philippine National Police chief.
President Rodrigo Duterte announced in a speech on Thursday that Albayalde will replace Ronald dela Rosa.
The term of dela Rosa was supposed to expire in January this year but was extended until April 21.
Albayalde was elated and grateful that Duterte wanted him to take over the police force.
“Siyempre very, very much elating at thankful, unang-unang sa Diyos, sa Presidente at kay Chief PNP for giving [their] trust and confidence in me,” Albayalde said in an interview.
Albayalde assured Duterte and dela Rosa that he will not betray their trust and confidence.
He also vowed to work hard and support the thrusts of the Duterte administration.
“Thank you to the President, really. Wala akong masabi kundi maraming, maraming salamat. I will continue to serve the Filipino people,” said Abayalde./PN
