MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio clarified she won’t resign as the second highest executive official of the land, and stressed that she remains friendly with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. despite her decision to leave his Cabinet as Education secretary.
According to Duterte-Carpio, her conversation with President Marcos following her resignation as secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) and vice chairperson of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) ended on a good note.
“We are still friendly with each other on a personal level,” the Vice President said in an interview aired on GMA 7’s 24 Oras Weekend on Sunday night.
The Vice President further said that her decision to leave the administration’s Cabinet was made in consideration of the best interest of both DepEd and NTF-ELCAC.
The Vice President, however, admitted that she was saddened because she loved her work as DepEd Secretary, but will now shift her focus on the Office of Vice President’s projects.
“Nakatutok na tayo ngayon sa Office of the Vice President. Meron kaming sampung projects,” the Vice President added./PN
