
ILOILO City – Suspected shabu with an estimated value of P1,054,272 was seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Gogo, Estancia, Iloilo, on Sunday, August 10.
Joint operatives of the Estancia Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) Team 3 apprehended alias “Jen”, 36, and a resident of the said place around 5:19 a.m.
Confiscated from the suspect were approximately 155.04 grams of suspected shabu, buy-bust money, and non-drug-related items.
Police Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), lauded the operating units for the arrest of a high-value suspect.
“This latest success in Estancia is proof that our intensified operations are working and that no place is safe for drug traffickers in Western Visayas. We will sustain this momentum, track down every player in the drug trade, and ensure they face the full force of the law. I commend our operatives for their courage, precision, and unwavering dedication to protecting our communities from the menace of illegal drugs,” Ligan said.
The suspect is currently in police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Also on Sunday, at 12:43 a.m., around P2 million worth of illegal drugs were seized from four suspects in the town’s Barangay Poblacion Zone 2.
The suspects identified as aliases “Trenos”, 31, and “Buloy”, 40, both residents of the said barangay; “Caloy”, 32, of Barangay Cano-an, Estancia; and “Rikoy”, 41, of Barangay Guinticdan, Carles town, yielded around 280 grams of suspected shabu./PN
