ILOILO City – Police apprehended a former village chief and seized around P1 million worth of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Baje San Julian, Calinog, Iloilo on Thursday, September 25.
The suspect identified as alias “Osing,” 41, and a resident of the town’s Barangay Owak, currently works as a job hire in the municipal government.
Operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) caught the suspect after he sold a plastic sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur buyer at 6:20 a.m.
The PDEU also confiscated three big plastic sachets of suspected shabu weighing a total of 155 grams.
According to IPPO director Colonel Bayani Razalan, the operation stemmed from the information provided by a concerned citizen regarding the suspect’s illegal drug activities.
The suspect was allegedly sourcing illegal drugs from Passi City and distributing it in Calinog and neighboring towns.
“Ini nga kadalag-an ang nagapakita sang mabaskog nga pagsalig kag kooperasyon sang aton mga kasimanwa. Dako gid ini nga bagay nga agud punggan ang pagduging sang ilegal nga droga sa aton probinsya. Gani ginahingyo ko gid ang padayon nga pagbantay kag pag-report sang mga indibidwal nga imbolbado sa ilegal nga droga, kay ini ang kasiguruhan para sa malinong kag mainiswagon nga probinsya,” Razalan said
The suspect is now under police custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
