MANILA – F2 Logistics Cargo Movers stretched its winning run in the Chooks To Go-Philippine Superliga Grand Prix with a 25-22, 25-13, 25-10 victory against Cignal HD Spikers at the San Juan Arena.

American Kennedy Bryan and Venezuelan Maria Jose Perez finished with 17 points apiece to lead the way for Cargo Movers, which remained on top of the standings with 6-0 win-loss slate after the Tuesday night match.

ā€œIt’s still a long way to go,ā€ said Cargo Movers head coach Ramil de Jesus. ā€œWhile sweeping the eliminations is our main goal, we know that we still have a lot of things to work and improve on.ā€

Hits by Perez for a 20-15 lead allowed for Cargo Movers a strong start in the opening set. HD Spikers responded with a massive run to come to within 22-24 but a booming shot by Perez over two defenders closed the set.

F2 Logistics pounced on HD Spikers’ receiving miscues in the second set to build an 18-7 lead. Cignal rallied to within 13-21 but Cargo Movers went on to pull away anew with hits from Bryan and Kim Fajardo for a 2-0 set lead.

Problems compounded on the already undermanned HD Spikers heading into third set with Jovelyn Gonzaga sustaining a knee injury. Cargo Movers took advantage of this to quickly build a double-digit lead and wrap up the match in three sets.

In the first game, Katarina Pilepic caught fire down the stretch to power Generika-Ayala Lifesavers to a 25-16, 25-19, 25-23 straight-set conquest of Victoria Sports-UST Golden Tigresses.

Lifesavers climbed up the standings with 3-4, giving it a good chance of avoiding powerhouse teams Cargo Movers, Petron Blaze Spikers and Foton Tornadoes in the sudden-death quarterfinal battle on Dec. 5./PN
