MANILA – Farm Fresh Foxies pulled off a shocking 25-23, 25-22, 25-16 straight set win over favored Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the PVL 1st All-Filipino Conference on Saturday night at the Filoil EcoOil Arena in San Juan.
Trisha Tubu had another stellar outing for the Foxies with 18 points, while Chinnie Arroyo contributed 11 markers as they forced a deadlock with the Crossovers with 2-2 win-loss slate.
Skipper Louie Romero likewise shone with her playmaking prowess, putting up a 27-excellent set showing, while Negrense Alyssa Bertolano ended with eight excellent digs, eight receptions and two points.
“Sobrang patient ng mga coaches namin, they always remind me that it’s okay to make mistakes, basta kailangan lang na bumawi kami inside,” Tubu said in a post-game interview.
“This game is very important, it will be our motivation against Petro Gazz, a team known for its strength,” she added, referring to their next game against the Angels on March 14.
The Foxies actually lost three set points in the second set, including on a foiled Bertolano attack, 22-24, but Rizza Cruz bailed them out with a resounding kill for a commanding 2-0 set lead.
As the pressure mounted in the third frame, the Foxies never wavered, displaying the same grit and determination they showed in the previous sets to pull off the stunning victory.
“May game plan po kasi kaming ginawa, so nag-stick lang po ako doon, kung ano po ‘yung sinasabi ng coaches, saan ‘yung ta-targetin ko, saan ‘yung ibo-block ko. Thankfully po nasunod ‘yung game plan namin,” said Tubu.
“Yung past games po kasi namin ano ‘yung game ko. So mga coaches po namin and si Tito Frank lagi po kaming nire-remind na lumaban lang at wag matakot tsaka tibayan sa court, puso,” she added.
Eya Laure paced Chery Tiggo with 11 points, Mylene Paat struggled for eight points, while Ennajie Laure, Victorinara Galang, and Ilonggas Abigail Maraño and Ma. Shaya Adorador could only churn out four markers apiece./PN
