CAPIZ – A farmer tragically died after being electrocuted in Sitio Balud, Barangay Duyoc, Dao town here.
The victim identified as alias “Lary,” of legal age and a resident of the area, was reportedly on his way home when he accidentally came into contact with a live wire, leading to his death.
According to Police Captain Rian Ampoyos, chief of the Dao Municipal Police Station, the incident occurred amid strong winds and heavy rains that caused a power outage. He added that the area was poorly lit, which may have contributed to the accident.
Police said Lary tripped over a broken secondary line or exposed live wire. Due to the power outage and darkness, he may not have noticed the hazard.
The victim’s body was brought to a local funeral home. His family believes there was no foul play involved.
In response, Engr. Edgar Diaz, general manager of the Capiz Electric Cooperative (CAPELCO), announced that the cooperative will extend financial assistance to the victim’s family.
Diaz said CAPELCO is now preparing the necessary documents and reports for board approval.
