MANILA – Seaoil-FEU Extreme Racers broke away in the second half to hack out a 99-82 win over Family Mart-Enderun Titans in the 2020 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

L-Jay Gonzales unloaded a near triple-double display of 12 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists to drive the Extreme Racers team to its first win of the conference.

Gonzales initiated his team’s 11-0 offensive barrage to turn the game from a 63-all deadlock into an 11-point lead at 74-63 with 2:06 left in the third quarter before Emman Ojuola placed the finishing touches en route to victory.

Ojuola tallied 14 points, with seven coming in the fourth period, to complement his six rebounds, while RJ Abarrientos and Kenneth Tuffin also registered their shares of 14 marks apiece for FEU.

Despite the victory, Extreme Racers head coach Rodericko “Olsen” Racela was still frustrated with his wards after giving up 54 points to the Titans in the opening half.

“I was frustrated kasi di namin ginawa ‘yung ginagawa namin in practice. We talked about being fundamentally sound on defense, pero di namin ginawa ‘yun. We gave up 54 points in the first half. We need to improve on a lot of things, especially defensively,” Racela said.

Michael Dela Cruz tallied 14 points and four rebounds, while Ivorian big man Pierre Kouakou, Joaquin Mariano and Toci Tansingco contributed 13 markers each for the Titans in the defeat./PN
