BACOLOD City — A fire broke out at around 12noon yesterday destroying almost all houses in Barangay 39, according to City Fire Marshall Chief Inspector Bartolome Beliran.

Beliran said after almost an hour, the fire was put under control. At 1:50 p.m., the fire was put out, leaving 50 houses mostly made of light materials in total razed and 100 more in Purok Katilingban damaged.

In the initial report, the fire started from the house of Omy and Butchoy Pitogo of Purok Katilingban.

He said a pending inspection of each house will be scheduled to estimate the damage.

More or less, houses made of light materials are P 20,000 each while concrete houses are about P 50,000 each, said Beliran.

Purok Katilingban’s Dante Danoy said families in the area where fire broke out are subject to relocation and some houses have already been demolished.

Danoy is coordinating with the city government for temporary shelters and the local Department of Social Services and Development for household assistance./PN
