ILOILO City – The city government committed to lose more or less 7,200 pounds within six months during the official weigh-in for the “Fit Filipino National Weight Loss Challenge” yesterday.
“We will lose weight and become healthier and fitter,” said Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog.
He stressed that healthier and fitter employees can deliver more efficient services to the clients of city hall.
Before the official weigh-in conducted by The Medical City staff, Storm Fitness Club Inc. members led an exercise demonstration. The exercise would become the city hall staff’s daily exercise.
The Fit Fil drive is spearheaded by trainers Jim and Toni Saret of the Philippine Olympic Committee. It aims to “gather” a million pounds across the country.
“I would to like congratulate Iloilo City for being a ‘Fit Fil City,’” said Marge Tamayo who represented the Sarets.
Tamayo also stressed there were already 45,288-pound pledges in the metropolis.
“As a collective effort, we believe we can even reach up to 100,000 pounds and will be seeing fitter, stronger and healthier Ilonggos who will be models of being fit Filipino,” added Tamayo.
She also announced that the Sarets will hold a grand fitness concert party here soon. (Iloilo City PIO/PN)
