THERE was a time when the word “flawless” was the tag name of a very famous sexy star during the 1980s. It eventually moved on and became the word to describe women with spotless, blemish-free fair skin.
I didn’t expect though that the word would be used to describe, this time, a very technical support operation of a political undertaking, but there it was and it brought a faint smile and subtle humor.
A week ago, the 2025 midterm local and national elections were held and the results were quite interesting to say the least, but we’re not talking about that, not just yet.
We will be talking about a very important, sometimes taken for granted, support service without which we can never have a near perfect, almost “flawless” elections from voting to counting.
The star of the show during Monday last week’s elections is, of course, the Commission on Elections or Comelec, the government body tasked to conduct elections and mandated to ensure a free and honest elections.
And supporting them that this exercise will happen without interruptions, particularly in “I Am Iloilo City”, is its sole power distribution utility, MORE Electric and Power Corporation a.k.a. MORE Power.
Take note that a steady uninterrupted flow of electricity is a must considering that this is an automated elections, digital all the way from voting to counting.
Any power interruption is considered a breach in the security of the voting machines and would create highly suspicious impressions that the results of the elections are tampered and flawed.
So, what happened that fateful May 12 Monday?
This is how Panay News describes it: MORE POWER DELIVERS FLAWLESS POLL DAY SUPPORT
EVERY second and every vote counts in an electoral exercise such as Monday’s midterm elections, and thankfully, MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) once again proved why reliable energy is essential to a functioning democracy.
By ensuring uninterrupted power across all polling centers in Iloilo City during the May 12 elections, MORE Power didn’t just keep the lights on — they kept the democratic process alive and well.
Indeed, we can thank the stars that no untoward incident happened, the usual suspects lost and the people exercised their right to vote despite the distractions from the dancing clowns.
Moving on, this is how MORE Power kept the elections brownout-free or flawless, so to say.
A dedicated team of over 100 personnel was deployed starting at 5 a.m. on election day, and remained on standby until the conclusion of vote canvassing on May 13. Their presence ensured the smooth conduct of the electoral process in two major areas of Iloilo City.
MORE Power’s efforts were part of a coordinated initiative involving the Comelec.
According to Jonathan Sayno, Election Assistant II for Comelec-Iloilo City: “We would like to thank MORE Power Corporation for supporting us in conducting the national and local elections, given there was no power interruption that happened. The transmission and operation of our automated counting machines were so smooth and the proclamation of the candidates who won was on time.”
The successful and power interruption-free elections reaffirmed MORE Power’s commitment to continuously improve the reliability and quality of electrical service in Iloilo City, emphasizing the importance of stable power supply during critical events such as elections.
This successful operation follows MORE Power’s previous efforts during the 2023 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, where it also ensured a 100 percent uninterrupted power supply, demonstrating its capability to support the city’s democratic processes. (PN 6/15/2025)
