
ILOILO City – Retired Police General Camilo Pancratius Pascua Cascolan, former chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and undersecretary of the Department of Health (DOH), passed away at the age of 59.
His death was announced by his family on Friday, Nov. 24.
Jiro Cascolan, his son, posted on Facebook: “It is with deep sadness and heavy heart that I announce the passing of my beloved father, Ret. Gen. Camilo Pancratius Pascua Cascolan. He peacefully left this world this afternoon at 5:28 p.m., surrounded by his loving family.”
Cascolan, who served as the 22nd PNP chief from September to November 2020, was also known for co-authoring Oplan Double Barrel, the PNP’s flagship program in the campaign against illegal drugs.
In October last year, he was appointed as an Undersecretary in the DOH.
The cause of his death has not been disclosed by the family.
Cascolan’s career included a tenure at the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), where he served as Deputy Regional Director for Administration in 2016 before his assignment to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) in 2018.
He was a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy Sinagtala class of 1986, alongside other notable PNP chiefs such as Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa and Oscar Albayalde.
Brigadier General Archival Macala, the current Deputy Regional Director for Administration of PRO-6, expressed his condolences.
“He was a good officer and an outstanding PNP chief, particularly noted for his dedication in the fight against illegal drugs,” Macala said.
Local government officials also shared their condolences. Iloilo Provincial Board member Rolando Distura of the 4th District of Iloilo remarked on Cascolan’s competence and approachability.
“We are deeply saddened by the demise of my friend. He was an extremely credible and competent official with a high work ethic,” Distura added.
Cascolan was married to an Ilongga, underlining his long-standing ties to Western Visayas./PN
