ROXAS City – Councilor Powell del Rosario wants senior citizens to avail of free admission to the movies on Tuesdays.
Del Rosario proposed an ordinance entitling the elderly to one free movie every Tuesday in all movie houses, theaters, and cinema establishments in this city.
However, no free movie passes will be given during the first day of the opening screening, first two weeks of screening if the movie is an entry in the Metro Manila Film Festival, special and regular holidays, and if the film is a 3D movie.
Those who can avail of this privilege should be:
- senior citizens who are bona fide residents of this city
- residents with Senior Citizens Identification Cards signed by assigned signatories and issued by the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs; and
- those who came from other cities/municipalities and established at least six months of residency in the city, secured a certificate of residency and a registered voter of this city.
The proposed ordinance allows cinema management to implement policies and procedures for the issuance of senior citizens’ ticket/entry pass such as ID validation and signing on a logbook.
Tickets/passes will be honored based on the date specified, and must be transacted with cinema personnel.
Violators will pay a fine of P500 (first offense), P 1,000 (second offense) and P 1,500 (third offense).
Del Rosario aims to make life “more enjoyable” for the senior citizens with this proposed ordinance.
The city council re-calendared its discussion on the proposed ordinance on a later date./PN
