KAPAMILYA star Gerald Anderon has no plans of entering politics. The actor remarked that he’s already content using his current platform to help other people.
“I’m just happy to be in a position where I can also help. Nagagamit ko naman ‘yung platform ko eh,” he pointed out in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
Gerald remarked that he does not want to commit to something he is not equipped for, especially since he is aware of the gravity of the responsibility that comes with being a public servant.
“May mga kaibigan ako in politics, I know it’s very hard, napakahirap nun, and I wouldn’t jump into something na hindi ako handa or hindi ko pinag-aralan because people’s lives are at stake,” he said.
Is he totally closing doors on politics? “I’ve never opened it,” he replied in jest.
Gerald recently earned praises of the public after he rescued a family in Quezon City during the onslaught of Super Typhoon Carina in July.
The Kapamilya actor pointed out that it’s not an ample reason to seek a political position.
“It’s not really a reason dahil lang lumusob ako sa baha para pasukin ko ‘yung isang bagay na wala akong alam or hindi ko napag-aralan. But I’m very happy because I have friends in powerful positions that help also with my platform,” he said.
In August, Gerald received the Auxiliary search and rescue medal from the Philippine Coast Guard for his efforts during the recent typhoon.
“Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, CG Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan, has lauded Auxiliary Commander (CDR) Gerald Anderson for his heroic acts amid the onslaught of Super Typhoon Carina in the National Capital Region (NCR),” the government organization said back in August.
It was in 2016 when the actor became a Philippine Coast Guard auxiliary officer.
His hometown of General Santos City also gave Gerald recognition in September for his brave efforts during the typhoon. (PUSH)
