ILOILO – An 11-year-old girl tragically drowned in Alegre beach in Oton town.
The body of alias “Jaja,” a resident of Lapuz, Iloilo City, was discovered floating at around 5:55 p.m. on Sunday, September 22.
The victim was brought to Guimbal District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Abner Jordan, chief of the Oton Municipal Police Station, the family reported the girl missing at approximately 3:30 p.m.
A search and rescue operation was immediately launched involving the Oton police, personnel of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and local residents.
Jordan said the family was celebrating an occasion at the beach that day with church friends, police added./PN
