ILOILO City – A 17-year-old girl committed suicide in their neighbor’s house in Brgy. Sambag, Jaro district.
Angel (not her real name) was found hanging dead by 12-year-old Grace Matunding, her neighbor, around 12:15 p.m. yesterday.
Chief Insp. Rhea Santos, chief of the Jaro police station, said the victim used her belt to tie her neck and attach it to the ceiling.
Angel, a high school student, was reportedly requested by Matunding family to sleep in their house.
She was last seen alive at 9 p.m. on Tuesday together with Matunding.
According to her family, the victim was a very quiet person and seldom opened up about her problems.
“Based our investigation, no other persons had entered the house. We believe she committed suicide, but we are still investigating the case,” Santos said.
There were speculations that Angel could be pregnant and was afraid to tell her family about it.
In the nearby town of Pavia, Iloilo, a woman tried to kill herself, too.
The 44-year-old Arnelia (not her real name) drank pesticide on Tuesday in Sitio Banglid.
Family members who discovered her suicide try immediately rushed her to the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
Yesterday, Arnelia’s condition was already stable.
According to family members, Arnelia had problems. They, however, refused to elaborate./PN
