BACOLOD City – A five-year-old girl died after she was ran over by a truck on Tuesday, July 29, in Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The victim, alias “Nenen”, was crossing the road near their home in Purok Manaloto around 11 a.m. when she was hit by a truck.
Authorities said she was accompanied by her nine-year-old sibling, who attempted to hold her back, but lost grip as the victim suddenly dashed across the street.
The girl sustained fatal head injuries and died on the spot.
In a radio interview, Nenen’s mother shared her deep sorrow over the loss of her ninth child out of 12. She explained that she usually fetched her daughter from school but failed to do so that day because two of her younger children were unwell.
The mother added that she was not planning on pressing charges against the truck driver, but appealed to the truck owner for financial assistance. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
