GRETCHEN Ho’s trailblazing #DonateABikeSaveAJob during the pandemic has proven to be a great success as the athlete-TV host managed to complete her target of 1,000 bike donations after only a few months.
Gretchen, who took to Instagram to share the new milestone, wrote: “This batch is special to me. We were able to put 100 women on bikes to complete our target of 1,000 bikes for #DonateABikeSaveAJob.”
Gretchen – who distributed the bikes at the Ayala Circuit Mall which happens to be a place known for having bike-friendly restos and parking slots – managed to distribute 100 bikes at the said place.
The 30-year-old Kapamilya personality added that she was able to donate bikes to a diverse set of individuals including those affected by the typhoons that recently hit the Philippines.
“We were able to provide bikes for mothers, nurses, janitresses, security guards, frontliners, caregivers, and some who have just started their own businesses. Pati mga naapektuhan ng bagyo, meron din kaming napili at nabigyan,” she stated.
Stressing the importance of bikes during the pandemic, Gretchen said it keeps people safe from contracting COVID-19.
“Bakit nga ba mahalaga ang bisikleta? Bukod sa mas safe ang biyahe nila mula sa COVID, mas maaga na rin silang makakauwi sa kanilang mga pamilya,” she said.
Gretchen also said riding bikes will also help families save enough money for more important expenses.
“Mababawasan ang pagod sa paglalakad, at mas madidiskartehan ang pagnenegosyo. Menos gastos din, dahil ang pera na pang-komyut, pwedeng itabi na lang para sa mga gastusin sa bahay,” she stated.
