Guimaras Grind: 3X3 tips off Aug. 25 in Nueva Valencia

NUEVA VALENCIA, Guimaras — More than 50 teams from across the province are set to compete in the Guimaras Grind: 3×3 Street Kings tournament on August 25, 2025, at the Calaya Gym in Nueva Valencia here.

In the 18-under boys division, 30 squads will see action led by NVNHS under coach James, BBC of Ralph Panergar, the Catalinians of Danny Lloyd, and Norlax of Flamar Padernilla.

They will be joined by Vanguards of Gherald John Jornadal, three teams from Calaya National High School, Arayko of Leynard Gilua, Alegria of Khen, and Jordanians under Perlito Mendoza.

Also in the mix are Black Mamba, Phantoms and Spartans both handled by R. Osano, Jordanians 2 of Perlito Mendoza, JNHS, REV-SNLHS of Danny, The Small Squad of Karl Pillora, George Phenomenal and Underrated both led by Ser Jayson, Shepherd’s of Kent Delmo, Archegos, Arzengonz of Ryan John, Alegrians 2.0, Ragaak, Phoenix Flames of Rutchel Sayson, Sibunag of Shem Vilches, Mixers of Ignacio Gaquit, and Hoops Dreams of Denmark Borres.

The 18-under girls division will feature nine teams, bannered by NVNHS of James, Catalinians of Danny Lloyd, ANHS of Gherald John Jornadal, and DOS of Maria Ella.

They will be joined by Calaya NHS, three teams from TVCians under coaches Rey and others, and the Generals of Franklin R. Caboylo.

Meanwhile, 19 squads will vie for the 15-under boys crown. Headlining the field are Deadly Shooter of Ser Jayson, Next Gen, and Young Guns of coach Jasm Cubilo Al-Marzouki.

Other teams include the Troopers of John Paul, Trojans of Madero, Crimsons of Leynard Gilua, Alfred and Friends of Coach Rey, NVNHS/Mugiwara of James, Catalinians of Danny Lloyd, Archegos and NXY both handled by R. Osano, and Wanted Shooters of Zyrus.

The division will also feature Vanguards, ACA of Clarence Ropero, Generals of Franklin R. Caboylo, Acer’s of Jhon Christian, SJJNHS, Calaya Court Crusaders of Leynard Gilua, and Spartans of Jron Amacio.

According to tournament commissioner Dr. Richard J. Gabayoyo, the competition will adopt a bracket format, with four teams grouped in each bracket during the elimination round.

The top team per bracket will advance to the crossover semifinals, with winners moving on to the championship match.

“This is more than just a competition—it’s a venue for the youth of Guimaras to showcase their talent, discipline, and sportsmanship,” Gabayoyo said.
