Guimaras police net P54.5-M illegal drugs, 51 fugitives in 5 months

ILOILO City – The Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO) seized over P54 million worth of shabu and arrested 51 wanted persons in five months of operations across the island province.

Data from GPPO showed that from January to May this year, 7.8 grams of shabu worth P54.5 million were confiscated and 18 drug suspects were caught from 19 operations.

The GPPO also arrested 51 fugitives, two of whom faced heinous crimes and the rest were charged for lesser offenses.

In the campaign against loose firearms, police apprehended seven individuals while five assorted guns were seized during police operations and 40 more were either surrendered or deposited.

For illegal fishing, the GPPO arrested 57 fishermen and impounded several fishing vessels following the successful 23 province-wide operations.

Also, police arrested 32 persons and recovered P12,682 in bet money from nine anti-illegal gambling operations.

GPPO director Colonel Rhea Santos said these accomplishments were the result of her personnel’s effort to curb all forms of illegal activities in Guimaras through their intensified campaign against wanted persons, illegal drugs and fishing, and other illegal activities.

“We will continue our campaign against illegal activities. Despite being manageable, we still need to double our efforts,” the provincial director added./PN
