Gunman shoots ex-convict

ILOILO – An ex-convict got shot by a motorcycle-riding gunman in Barangay Pulaw, Dumangas town around 7 p.m. on Oct. 13.

The 56-year-old Rey Tugunon was taken to a hospital for two gunshot wounds on the chest.

He was attacked in front of his house, according to Police Staff Master Sergeant Kim John Banzon, chief investigator of the Dumangas police station.

“Ang biktima nagatindog sa dalan. May nagdulog nga motor sa iya atubang, nanaog ang suspek kag gintayaan ini sya,” said Banzon.

The gunman left after the shooting.

Banzon said Tugunon was convicted for murder years back and was freed just last year.

“May ara na kami suspek pero indi pa namon mapahayag since ang aton kapulisan naga-condcut pa sang hot pursuit operation,” added Banzon.

Tugunon was initially taken to the Ramon D. Duremdes District Hospital in Dumangas but was later transferred to the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Iloilo City for further treatment./PN
