SAN JOSE, Antique – The Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital (ASMGH) here is seeing the last day of its five-day disinfection today.
It started on April 5.
“This is not a lockdown,” stressed Gov. Rhodora Cadiao during a meeting last week with representatives of frontline healthcare workers from public and private hospitals in Antique.
The province is experiencing a spike in cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). On April 3, active cases stood at 104, data from the Provincial Health Office showed.
Cadiao personally checked the situation at ASMGH, the biggest healthcare facility in Antique.
The five-day decontamination, according to Cadiao, also gave authorities the chance “para mataw-an kang tiempo…ang bilog nga hospitals kay medyo naabot run ang aton mga nurses.”
During the decontamination period, ASMGH limited its acceptance of non-COVID patients, and instead refer them to the Antique Medical Center (AMC), with the provincial government shouldering their expenses.
Governor Cadiao also ordered a mass testing of frontliners.
“Ang testing parte rian sa lima ka adlaw nga i-disinfect naton, hindi lang ang mga parte kang hospital, kundi pati aton nga mga labor force, especially, aton mga nurses,” she said.
“I-identify naton ang mga nurses nga healthy to serve and go on duty,” said Cadiao.
The governor again reminded Antiquenos to refrain from unnecessary travel and better stay home, and be wary of “fake news”.
Antiquenos should get information only from legitimate and credible sources, she stressed. (AJ Patrick M. Ga-an, Antique PIO/PN)
