ILOILO City â The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) recorded 31 crime incidents in the second week of January (Jan. 5 to 11).
This was 62.19 percent lower than the crimes reported in the same period last year, according to ICPO operations chief Superintendent Jowel Saliba.
From Jan. 6 to 12, 2017 the ICPO recorded 82 crime incidents.
This year, there were only two physical injury cases â a drop of 86.66 percent from 15 cases last year.
There were only three theft cases this year â a drop of 72.72 percent from 11 cases last year.
âMaximum police visibility and long-term planning of security measures for big events such as the Dinagyang Festival contributed to the decrease in criminality,â said Saliba.
The ICPO will continue to make the city peaceful by conducting police roving operations, he said. (Merianne Grace Ereñeta, Iloilo City PIO/PN)
