ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has made significant strides in combating illegal drug activities in the city, confiscating an alarming P45.1 million worth of illegal drugs in the first quarter of this year.
According to the latest report from the ICPO, between January 1 and March 31, a total of 6,631.9098 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P45,096,986.84 were seized.
This remarkable accomplishment highlights the aggressive approach taken by the city’s law enforcement in curbing the spread of illegal drugs.
In addition to the substantial drug seizure, various antidrug operations across the city resulted in the arrest of 224 individuals, 56 of whom were classified as high-value targets.
The remaining 175 suspects were tagged as street-level suspects or those often involved in the retail distribution of drugs.
The arrested suspects are now in the custody of authorities, facing charges under Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The ICPO said the success of the operations reflects their commitment to maintaining public safety and security, as well as their unyielding determination to eliminate illegal drugs from the streets of Iloilo City./PN
