ILOILO City—The Iloilo City Traffic Management Unit (ICTMU) will implement traffic rerouting measures around Central Philippine University (CPU) for this year’s Bar examinations on Sept. 8, 11, and 15.
This rerouting is aimed at minimizing traffic congestion and ensuring a smooth flow of vehicles in the testing center inside the CPU during the examination dates.
Such vehicular rerouting also aligns with Mayor Jerry Treñas’s recent executive order prohibiting ‘ambient noise’ that could disrupt the conduct of the Bar exams.
The traffic office said that streets in front of CPU such as Lopez Jaena, Cabangbang, and Miramar Subdivision will be closed to vehicular traffic during the exam dates from 2 a.m. 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Vehicles from Ungka Terminal to Lopez Jaena Street or Jaro Plaza must turn right to Miramar Subdivision to the service road from then turn left to JIGA Mags tire supply, turn right to Fajardo Street from Fajardo Street then turn right to Lopez Jaena Street and proceed to their place of destination.
Those vehicles from Jaro Plaza going to Lopez Jaena Street or Ungka Terminal from Simon Ledesma must turn right to Lopez Jaena Street then turn left to Cabangbang Street, turn right to Arguelles Extension, turn right to Barangay Cuartero going to the service road from service, turn right to Miramar Subdivision then proceed to their place of destination.
Treñas has issued an executive order prohibiting “ambient noise” around Central Philippine University (CPU) to ensure a conducive environment for the 2024 Bar examinations.
Executive Order 119 aims to minimize disturbances and maintain a quiet atmosphere during the exam period.
This noise includes sirens, horns, whistles, or other similar gadgets and explosions of firecrackers, fireworks, and other pyrotechnic devices.
In a Bar bulletin, the Supreme Court has designated CPU as one of the 13 local testing centers (LTCs) for 2024 Bar Examinations on Sept. 8, 11, and 15.
Under the executive order, business establishments within a 500 radius of CPU are asked to minimize unnecessary noise during the exam.
Contractors performing preventive maintenance along the roads near the school have been requested to postpone engineering works within the same radius from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 8, 11, and 15.
The use of video machines and similar machines that tend to cause unnecessary noise and disrupt the holding of exams have been prohibited during the above time and dates.
The barangay officials and members of the Iloilo City Police Office have been instructed to monitor and apprehend those who would conduct illegal gambling and similar prohibited activities.
Violators will be charged with an appropriate offense for violating the “Ordinance Regulating Noise Pollution in Iloilo City.”
Supreme Court Associate Justice Mario V. Lopez, Chairperson of the #Bar2024 Examinations, yesterday penned a message for the 2024 Bar candidates.
“The #BarNiJLo2024 will be neither difficult nor easy: it will be ‘exacto lang,'” he described this year’s exams.
Justice Lopez also gave a heads-up to the barristers, saying the questions “will focus on practical skills, jurisprudential perspectives, and analytical and problem-solving abilities.”
“It is understandable that you feel tired and anxious. Your studies and reviews have brought you unprecedented pressure. But the exhaustion and anxiety are small pains compared to the lifetime of glory that awaits you,” stressed Justice Lopez./PN
