Iloilo City barangays start listing the unvaxxed

ILOILO City – The 180 barangays in this southern city are conducting an inventory of persons vaccinated and unvaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in their respective turfs.

According to Liga ng mga Barangay – Iloilo City vice president and spokesperson Punong Barangay Roberto Niño Jr. of Barangay Calumpang, Molo, district, they actually started listing as early as August 2021.

Now they’re merely updating their records, he said, after the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) issued an order about having such an inventory.

According to Niño, barangays are required to update their list monthly.

Data from the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 showed 457-273 residents here already fully vaccinated against COVID-19, equivalent to 136.43 percent of the target population (335,172) of the city.

The fully vaccinated individuals were:

* A1 (frontline healthcare workers) – 15,372

* Expanded A1 – 19,653

* A2 (senior citizens) – 35,166

* A3 (Adult with comorbidity) – 39,557

* Expanded A3 – 286

* A4 (Economic Frontliners) – 108,289

* A5 (Indigent Population) – 108,289

* Rest of the Adult Population (ROAP) – 59,300

* Pediatric with Comorbidity – 1,970

* Rest of Pediatric Population (ROPP) – 40,846

DILG secretary Eduardo Año said the inventory would ensure that the government has the correct data on unvaccinated persons.

But he also admitted that this is in line with the pronouncement of President Rodrigo Duterte to restrain or restrict the movement of unvaccinated individuals.

“It all starts with an inventory and then when we have the data, the LGU (local government units) will implement through an ordinance the restrictions on the movement of unvaccinated persons,” Interior undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said.

Malaya also said barangay officials have to prepare the inventory “on a monthly basis” and submit this to the DILG field office in their area.

“The second step is to closely monitor the mobility of the persons who are not yet vaccinated and to advise them to stay at home,” he said./PN
