Iloilo City COVID cases back to double digits

ILOILO City – New cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) here reached 15.

According to Mayor Jerry Treñas, 10 of the 15 were students. They underwent swab test as requirement for their face-to-face classes.

The students were asymptomatic.

Also, most of the new 15 cases were fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.

The City Health Office (CHO) conducted contact tracing right away.

“Gabantay gid kita. Magsugod naman saka, it will affect us,” said Treñas, citing Quezon City that has already been warned or alerted about their increasing COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, those who were found to be mild cases were recommended by Chiqui Blancaflor, head sang Uswag Iloilo City Molecular Laboratory, for genome sequencing.

Treñas urged city residents to continue wearing facemasks.

“It is very important. Ikaduha, kon allowed na kita, magpa-booster gid. Ikatatlo, ang kids vaccination naton syado kahinay. Gasugod na kita face-to-face, siguro mangayo gid ko sang kooperasyon sang tanan nga mapa-booster,” he said./PN
