ILOILO City – Ahead of the expected influx of thousands of cemetery visitors for All Saints’ and All Souls’ days (November 1 and 2, respectively), the city government has rolled out comprehensive measures to ensure that this year’s observance remains peaceful, organized, and inclusive — safeguarding both public safety and the livelihood of vendors.
Through Executive Order (EO) No. 108, series of 2025, Mayor Raisa Treñas set clear guidelines to maintain discipline, cleanliness, and security in all public and private cemeteries while allowing regulated vending activities to continue.
“Ginpapanaog naton ang Executive Order No. 108, s. 2025 agud masiguro nga mahapos, malinong kag limpyo ang pag-obserbar sang All Saints’ kag All Souls’ Day diri sa aton siyudad,” Treñas said, adding that the directive underscores the city’s dual commitment to order and community welfare.
Under the EO, only accredited vendors will be allowed to operate in designated areas near cemeteries to prevent congestion and maintain cleanliness.
Waste segregation and garbage collection will also be intensified before, during, and after the two-day observance.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO), City Health Office (CHO), and General Services Office (GSO) have been tasked to lead coordinated security, traffic, and sanitation operations.
Barangay officials and local law enforcers will also be deployed to sustain peace and order.
“Ini nga EO nagahatag sang klaro nga guidelines sa pagbaligya, kalimpyo, kag seguridad sa palibot sang mga sementeryo para maprotektahan ang publiko samtang ginatugtan gihapon ang oportunidad sang pangabuhian sa aton mga vendors,” Treñas said, emphasizing that Undas should serve as both a moment of remembrance and a model of civic discipline.
“Pagsaulog sang Undas nga organisado, responsable, kag may pagrespeto — amo ina ang aton tuyo para sa tanan nga Ilonggo,” she stressed.
The city government likewise urged residents to follow cemetery schedules, dispose of trash properly, and observe respect and caution during their visits./PN
