ILOILO City – The city government boosted its anti-dengue campaign by capacitating barangays particularly those with high cases.

On August 22, a pulong-pulong with barangays recording the highest dengue cases was held at Compania Central Multi-purpose building in Molo district.

Residents were told that prevention and response measures and strategies should focus on regular and simultaneous cleanup to get rid of breeding places of mosquitoes starting from homes to the community.

They were also advised to seek early medical checkup when fever occurs for two days to get free test for dengue at district health centers.

For self-protection, use of protective clothing and repellant should be practiced.

Earlier this week, the City Health Office (CHO) has set up 30-bed hydration unit at La Paz Health Center for management of dengue cases. CHO is also conducting misting operations in public schools, public places, and hotspots.

City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, meanwhile, has surveyed top barangays with most cases to determine the needs and address the concerns, with activation of Public Address system to raise awareness at the grassroots./PN
