ILOILO – The provincial government is gearing up for the 2025 Livestock and Poultry Week, set to kick off on April 28.
This province-wide celebration, to be led by the Iloilo Provincial Agriculture Office (IPAO) – Livestock Division, will highlight sustainable innovations and successful farming practices, aiming to address challenges facing the local livestock industry.
The event will bring together farmers, industry players, and stakeholders to discuss modern strategies for swine management, particularly in response to the ongoing threat of African Swine Fever (ASF).
A series of seminars and learning sessions will be held on April 29 at the Municipality of Leon, focusing on topics such as sustainable layer poultry production and effective record-keeping to boost swine productivity.
Among the key activities lined up are the “Egg-cellent Farming: Advancements in Sustainable Layer Poultry Production” session at Villacastin Catering Services in Barangay Anonang, and “Swine Success: Boosting Productivity and Profitability” at the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) Leon Campus Gymnasium.
Another important session, “Optimizing Cattle Production,” will explore sustainability and maximizing economic success at the ISAT U Leon Campus Conference Room.
The celebration will also feature a culinary showcase from April 28 to 30 at SM City Iloilo, in collaboration with the Provincial Tourism Office.
This “cooking show” will spotlight local ingredients and livestock products, celebrating Iloilo’s farm-to-table value chain.
With the theme “Growing Together: Nurturing Livestock and Poultry for a Sustainable Prosperous Future”, the week-long event aims to inspire resilience and growth within Iloilo’s agriculture sector./PN
