ILOILO City – Lieutenant Colonel Alvin Gumacal, an Ilonggo police official and former deputy regional commander of Region 7, has officially taken the helm of the Regional Maritime Unit-6 (RMU-6), replacing Colonel Juritz Rara who has been reassigned to the Police Regional Office – Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR).
Gumacal assumed his post on July 7 and was warmly received by RMU-6 personnel, who expressed confidence in his leadership.
“We welcome our new commander and we will work hand in hand for the good of this office,” said Major Janvier Gilza of RMU-6, noting that Gumacal’s Ilonggo roots bring a sense of familiarity and connection to the region.
Meanwhile, outgoing commander Rara expressed gratitude to the people of Western Visayas and the local media for their support during his eight-month tenure.
“I’m honored and thankful to serve the Ilonggos for eight months and also the men and women of RMU-6,” said Rara.
