
A Taste of Broadway

Ilonggos from all walks of life gathered on the lustrious evening of Oct. 21 at the historic Old Elizalde Building, now known as the Philippine Museum of Economics, to witness a spectacle at par with world class. Spearheaded by the Zonta Club Metro Iloilo, “A Taste of Broadway” featured the talented artists of the University of San Augustin Conservatory of Music and Sidlangan Dance Company. They performed pieces from the films West Side Story and Mamma Mia, as well as classics from Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables.






100 Days to Dinagyang



With the upcoming second in-person celebration of the Dinagyang Festival post-pandemic, Iloilo City has begun its 100-day countdown at SM City Iloilo on Oct. 20. Mayor Jerry P. Treñas was joined by Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. president Allan Tan, Rev. Father Renchie Vicente Senor and SM City Iloilo Assistant Mall Manager Darrel John Defensor as he officially struck the drums. Geared to make everyone’s hearts beat louder and faith stronger, Dinagyang 2024 is themed “Pagdayaw kay Señor Sto. Niño, Padayaw sang mga Ilonggo!”
What’s Up Western Visayas


The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Iloilo spearheaded the 2023 Iloilo Business Week, slated from Oct. 14 to 20. The weeklong event is a venue for the flourishing business sector by promoting products, enhancing skills, learning trends and building networks and opportunities in various industries. Iloilo Business Week’s highlight was the “What’s Up, Western Visayas” business conference themed “Inspiring Investment through Innovation Inclusivity,” which gathered various business personalities who shared the ins and outs of their industry. They were Atty. Jobert Peñaflorida, PCCI Western Visayas governor and Regional Development Council 6 co-chairperson; Former Ilonggo senator Franklin Drilon; Honorary Vice-Consul of Monaco to the Philippines RJ Ledesma; University of Asia and the Pacific president Dr. Winston Padojinog; MEC Networks Corp. vice president Carlo Subido; motivational speaker Paulo Tibig, and Metro Manila-based lawyer Mark Gorriceta.
