In Negros Occ., curfew for minors stays

BY DOMINIQUE GABRIEL G. BAÑAGA

BACOLOD City – Police Colonel Leo Pamittan, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) director, reminded police chiefs to continue enforcing the curfew for minors.

The provincial government lifted the province-wide pandemic-induced curfew on June 1 due to the continued decline in cases of coronavirus disease 2019.

Pamittan noticed that minors are still roaming around in the late evening hours.

Most local government units in the province observe a 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said the lifting was agreed upon by the mayors that cited the clamor of the business sector for it.

The curfew scrapping is seen to further revitalize business activities and promote consumer spending.

NOCPPO spokesperson Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, meanwhile, said all police stations in the province are required to always deploy their beat patrollers for improved police visibility.

Donasco also reminded the public that the Commission on Elections’ gun ban is still in effect – until June 8, and police continue to be on guard to ensure that peace is maintained in the province./PN
