IPPO starts counting drug-free barangays

ILOILO City – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) has been reviewing the performance of various police stations in drug-clearing operations.

Results will be known tomorrow, said Senior Superintendent Cornelio Salinas, provincial police director.

Three months ago, police station chiefs were ordered to clear of illegal drugs at least two barangays in their turfs.

“I am optimistic that with the competence, resourcefulness, sincerity and synergy at work of our police chiefs, they achieved it,” Salinas said.

A barangay can be declared drug-free upon the certification of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council and the Municipal Anti-Drug Council.

“I think three months are enough for them to clear two barangays,” said Salinas.

He told the police chiefs to coordinate with municipal officials, other government agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health and Department of Education to hit their target./PN
