AFTER her breakup with Gerald Anderson was confirmed to the public, Julia Barretto’s first social media activity was a repost of the announcement of the Sept. 21 nationwide protest against corruption.
The actress seemingly opted to keep her silence on the issues surrounding their split, and just hinted via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, Sept. 20, her attendance at the scheduled rallies in Luneta and Edsa.
Barretto shared a post from a media outlet that urges the public to stand against corruption and join the protests on Sept. 21.
In a separate post, Barretto shared Scout Magazine’s “rally-ready starter pack.” She did not add captions to her posts.
Barretto and Anderson’s breakup was confirmed to the public last Sept. 18 through separate statements released by their respective talent management agencies Viva Artists Agency and Star Magic.
The reason behind the split was not immediately disclosed, although it was stated that the pair “mutually and amicably parted ways.”
Meanwhile, aside from Barretto, several other celebrities have expressed their intent to join the nationwide protests, among them “It’s Showtime” hosts Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis and Ogie Alcasid as well as comedian Tuesday Vargas.
Curtis, in a social media post on Sept. 20, emphasized the importance of honest taxpaying even as she called for accountability on the government’s part.
She shared that she has finally received her award from last year, when she was recognized by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) as one of the top celebrity taxpayers in the Philippines.
“Finally received this award, since I wasn’t able to attend the ceremony earlier this year due to my crazy schedule. Thank you po for recognizing my sincere effort to make sure I pay my taxes correctly and on time,” she wrote.
Being one of the responsible taxpayers in the country, the actress-host underscored that taxpayers should be able to see where their money went as she highlighted the daily struggles of ordinary Filipinos despite the taxes they contribute.
